Allstate Teams Up with Pine View High School to X the TXT during Homecoming Week

Teens and community invited to take the pledge not to text and drive

WHAT:
During Pine View High School Homecoming Week, local Allstate agency owners Shonie Christensen and Ryan Bishop are partnering with Pine View High School cheerleaders for several events to raise awareness of the dangers of texting while driving through Allstate’s X the TXT program.

Friday, Sept. 27, Homecoming Tailgate and Football Game:

Students, cheerleaders and the St. George community will come together at Pine View High School’s homecoming football game to pledge to stop texting and driving.

VISUALS:
Students will create a large “X the TXT” banner using Dixie-cups on the fence by the Pine View High School football stadium. During the game, cheerleaders will perform a special X the TXT cheer. Local Allstate agents and Pine View High School cheerleaders will also host an X the TXT booth to raise awareness of teen safe driving through thumbprint pledges from students and teen safe driving collateral such as thumb bands, X the TXT cards and more.

Activities throughout the week:

Pine View High School cheerleaders led efforts to encourage students to put their phones away while behind the wheel. They hung posters and flyers about teen safe driving around the school and hosted an X the TXT booth at the homecoming pep rally, where students covered a banner with their inked thumbprints to pledge not to text and drive.

The cheerleaders will carry the thumbprint-covered banner in the homecoming parade while handing out X the TXT cards to educate the St. George community on the program.

Saint George, UT, 84790

WHEN:
Friday, Sept. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the homecoming tailgate party, followed by the football game starting at 7 p.m. vs. Desert Hills High School.

WHY:
Car crashes are the number one killer of teens, and texting is one of the most dangerous distractions facing drivers today. A recent survey from the Allstate Foundation found that 75 percent of teens admit that they find reading and responding to texts distracting behind the wheel, but more than 40 percent still admit to texting and driving. Driver distraction also contributes to 25 percent of all police-reported crashes, according National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
