Utah Tech’s Entertainment Alliance will host its annual Fall Spectacular, featuring local talent in dance, singing and acting, along with showcasing student performances.

The Fall Spectacular showcases performance teams from the university and the community.

Participants present their talents, performing various genres of music such as jazz, pop and rock. Also, the event will include dance performances.

“It is an event with performance teams within the community, but it is also showcasing our performance teams at Utah Tech, specifically under the umbrella of the Entertainment Alliance,” Issy Kiser, a sophomore psychology major from Kansas City, Missouri, and president of FUSION team, said.

The showcase will be available to see for two days. The event is scheduled Nov. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Eccles Fine Arts Center Mainstage Theatre.

Amy Gleave, the director of the entertainment alliance, said the Fall Spectacular will present:

“It [Fall Spectacular] highlights talents of Utah Tech’s premier performing teams within the Entertainment Alliance, and it is a collaborative production that brings campus performers and community performers alike into our showcase,” Gleave said.

Gleave said the event features a wide range of ballroom styles, including both fast and slow dances such as the cha-cha and samba, showcasing a variety of genres throughout the night.

“To be able to perform with the amazing FUSION and the spectacular ballroom is a wonderful opportunity [for] Blaze [dance] to show their talents as the national champions,” Kori Esplin, a head coach of the Blaze Dance Team, said. “I think it just shows how committed we are to support the other events at the university and we also have great admiration and respect for FUSION.”

Additionally, the opportunity to share the same stage helps teams feel united with each other and helps them to be active in campus life.

“We do not often get opportunities to do that [perform together], so it is really fun,” Kiser said. “It is cool to share the stage with them [FUSION and ballroom].”

The prices and tickets for the showcase are available on the UTEA website.

The showcase also helps the entertainment alliance raise funds for scholarships and expenses from the event.

“It is just a different atmosphere,” Kiser said. “It is not a typical play, it is a showcase.”
