Both Utah Tech University men’s and women’s basketball teams opened their seasons with wins, while volleyball won a close game on the road.

Men’s basketball

The Trailblazers tipped off their 2025-26 season Nov. 3 with an overtime victory on the road at the University of South Dakota, 81-79.

Redshirt sophomore Chance Trujillo led the way with a double-double as he finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four other Trailblazers finished the game in double figures.

“It was big time and you could not ask for a better game to start with,” head coach Jon Judkins said after the game.

UT then returned home Nov. 5 to the Burns Arena to host Bethesda University and won 110-65. Similar to their season opener, five Trailblazers scored in double figures. Senior Ethan Potter led the way with 23 points, matching his career high.

The Trailblazers then dropped back-to-back road games Nov. 7 and 9, falling 93-67 to nationally ranked No. 13 University of Arizona, and 81-66 to Arizona State University.

Utah Tech will now travel to Honolulu for the OUTRIGGER Rainbow Classic Nov. 12.

Women’s basketball

UT opened their season with a win over Northern Arizona University 78-73 Nov. 8. The Trailblazers went on an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to close out the win.

Redshirt senior Kaylee Borden led the team in scoring with 21 points in her Utah Tech debut after transferring from the University of Nevada.

UT will next host the University of Nebraska Omaha Nov. 12.

Women’s soccer

The Trailblazers’ season ended in the Western Athletic Conference tournament in a penalty shootout to California Baptist University Nov. 5.

A California Baptist own goal and a goal from sophomore Ella Cotter gave UT their first postseason goals in the Division I era. Both teams ended both regulation and extra time in a 2-2 deadlock.

In the penalty shootout, CBU advanced to the tournament final, winning 2-1 on penalties.

Men’s golf

UT closed their fall season as they placed 10th at the Hawai’i Pearl at Kalauoa Invite Nov. 5-6. Senior Tanner Telford finished T-10th and shot even par.

Football

UT lost on the road to Abilene Christian University 31-10 as the Trailblazers committed four turnovers Nov. 8.

Redshirt junior kicker Ilya Uvaydov and redshirt freshman running back Asa Chatman got UT on the board with a 51-yard field goal and a seven-yard touchdown run. It was Uvaydov’s fourth make this season from over 50 yards and Chatman’s fifth rushing touchdown of the season.

UT will travel to face the University of West Georgia Nov. 15.

Women’s volleyball

The Trailblazers won 3-2 over CBU on the road Nov. 8. After going down 2-1, UT came back to win the final two sets of the match.

Senior middle blocker Taylor Snow set a career high with 16 kills, along with four block assists and a service ace.

UT will return home to host Tarleton State University Nov. 13.

Women’s tennis
