LDS Church Builds Movie Set

Ancient Jerusalem is coming to Utah through a new movie set created by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Situated on three acres of rural countryside near Goshen in Utah County, the Church spent months finding just the right location to film dozens of vignettes portraying the life of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament.   The property is akin to the desert of the Judean Plains, sand dunes, a river resembling the ancient Jordan River, and an area suited for the Garden of Gethsemane.  “One of the main purposes for constructing the Jerusalem Motion Picture Set is to help the world better understand the life and ministry of the Savior Jesus Christ,” said Elder Lynn G. Robbins, Church general authority and executive director of the Media Services Department.  The dozens of films shot will be used in the Sunday School program, the Church Educational System, visitors’ center exhibits and other projects.
