A car accident in Cedar City Wednesday afternoon claims the life of an elderly man and sends four to the hospital.  Responding to a vehicle accident at Cross Hollow Drive and South Main Street, Cedar City Police discovered a collision involving 10 occupants from two vehicles; a family of seven from New Harmony and three occupants from Parowan.

Donald McCulley, a 74-year-old occupant of the mini-van died at Valley View Medical Center from injuries suffered in the accident.  Kathleen Drake, 50, and Marion McCulley, 72, both of Parowan, were occupants in the mini-van and were also transported to VVMC for their injuries.  Mindy Hughes, 40, and a 7-year-old female were among the occupants in the other vehicle and were likewise transported to VVMC for their injuries.   Evidence collected at the scene, coupled with statements made by witnesses, show the SUV was traveling south on Main Street to enter I-15 when the driver of the mini-van attempted to make a left turn in front of the SUV.  The van was struck broadside by the SUV.

This is the second fatal accident in Cedar City since July 2011.
