Around 6:00 Friday evening, a semi truck hauling produce was traveling northbound on I-15 at approximately mile marker 8.5 when the driver lost control and crashed through the barricade and fence on the side of the freeway. The semi truck came to a stop in front of Arctic Circle on Red Cliffs Drive and blocking traffic and shutting down the road. No other vehicles or people were involved with the crash.
Utah Highway Patrol arrested the truck driver Michael Scott on alleged charges of possession of a controlled substance, improper lane travel, marijuana, and driving with a measurable amount of a controlled substance in the body.
Scott was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility and is being held on a bond of more than $1,800.00 bail.
