An illegal immigrant who was arrested in St. George in August has been sentenced to ten years in prison.

Ernesto Aguilar, 34, who was also deported about 10 years ago, will serve a ten-year prison sentence for selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer.

Upon his arrest, police say Aguilar admitted to carrying a 9-millimeter handgun and that he re-entered the county after being deported in 2000.

Aguilar accepted a plea agreement that dropped two counts of methamphetamine distribution and a count of illegal firearm possession as an immigrant.

Aguilar’s sentence began Monday.
