Dixie State University falls in straights sets to Western Washington University in the opening match of the Crossover Tournament.

The Trailblazers were able to keep the Vikings close through the first half of set one. The Vikings then went on a 9-2 run to broaden the gap between the two teams. After several more attempts by the Trailblazers to keep it close, the Vikings went on to close the door by taking a 1-0 lead with a 25-13 win.

After a hot start in set two by WWU, the Trailblazers fought their way back into the game. After going back and forth for several points, the Vikings began to pull away mid-set. WWU would go on to win 25-14.

Set three proved to be the most competitive between the two schools. Facing a loss, DSU hung tight with WWU for the whole set. The Vikings would go on to prove they were the superior team today by outing DSU 25-22 in the final set.

The Trailblazers will look to regroup as they face the University of Alaska Anchorage at 3 p.m. and Cal State San Bernardino at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
