Waffle Love takes its customer service to a whole new level by creating an inviting atmosphere where the customers feel like family.

From the first step inside, customers are met with a warm, cozy aura, the smell of waffles, and smiling faces.

Bobbi Ashworth, the manager of Waffle Love, said the intent of the shop is to embody love itself. The employees want customers to feel love and to walk out with a sense of happiness and completeness.

“This is our home and we’re welcoming our guests into our home,” Ashworth said. “We want everyone to feel special when they come into Waffle Love.”

Ashworth said she believes that when customers have all their senses met their experience is complete.

“[The food] smells good, it looks good, it tastes good,” Ashworth said.

The employees go beyond just serving food to customers – they make it beautiful, Ashworth said.

“The food is beautiful; it’s a work of art,” Ashworth said. “I feel like you eat with your eyes first and then it’s even better when you take that first bite.”

Lexi Stanger, an employee at Waffle Love, said her favorite waffle right now is the Cinnalove, a waffle spread with cinnamon butter and cream cheese frosting.

A few popular waffle flavors right now are the Red Wonder, which is a waffle topped with Bischof, raspberries, strawberries and whipped cream; The Sunshine, which is topped with lemon curd, raspberries and whipped cream; and the Dulce De Liege, which is a cinnamon and sugar waffle topped with fried ice cream and drizzled with dulce de leche caramel, Ashworth said.

“Come try a waffle, you’ll be coming back too,” Stanger said.

Tia Ashley, a freshman general education major from West Jordan and employee at Waffle Love, said a misconception people have of Waffle Love is it only consists of sweet flavors; however, she said savory options are available as well, such as the Chicken Avocado Tartine, which is a grilled cheese consisting of tomato, avocado and a sunny-side-up egg; the Grilled Cheese and Bisque, a grilled cheese sandwich made with muenster, provolone and garlic butter, with a side of tomato bisque; and the Breakfast Plate, which includes two eggs, two slabs of bacon, sliced avocado and a crispy flaky croissant waffle.

“I would definitely recommend people to come in because we have great sweet options and savory options,” Ashley said.

A menu favorite Ashworth suggests customers try is the Chicken and Waffles, which consists of chicken served with waffles.

“[It is] hands down the best chicken you will ever eat; I swear by it,” Ashworth said.

Ashworth said her favorite part about working at Waffle Love is the people she meets. She said she makes an effort to remember customers, remember what they order, build relationships with the community and listen to their stories. By doing these things, she said it creates a bond that the customer will take away from their experience and will want to return.

Another inclusive aspect of Waffle Love is its “we love our customers” board. If customers take a picture with their waffle, post it on Instagram and include #waffluvstg, Ashworth will print the photo and add it to the board.

Ashworth said she is offering a buy-one-get-one deal for Dixie State University students who show their ID when ordering. It will be valid from March 1-31. In addition, during the month of March, the specialty waffle is Lime Curd, made in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Waffle Love also has a happy hour from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. every day, where every waffle only costs $5.

The various deals Waffle Love offers are beneficial to college students because any sort of discount helps.

St. George resident Maggie Orozco said she appreciates the deals Waffle Love has. She said she receives email coupons after purchases, which is helpful as a single mother of two children.

Waffle Love was started as a waffle food truck founded by Adam Terry in 2012, according to waffluv.com. Through trial and error and getting laughed at in the face, he has grown the business throughout five states.

Stanger said, “[Because] it used to be a Waffle Love [food] truck, I feel like the building gives off a truck feeling.”

Customers are met with a different type of environment once they step inside the door, Stanger said. She said the place is filled with love and happiness.

Orozco said: “I love the owner’s story; never give up and you’re never too old to start something new to be great at. Determination is the moral of the story.”
