As the academic school year gets underway, Utah Tech University Athletics keeps rolling from the volleyball court to the football field.
Football
The football team opens their season at home Aug. 31, against Montana State University at 8 p.m. They will go into the season with a new coaching staff led by head coach Lance Anderson. Linebacker Jared Fotu, a junior management major from Highland, said Anderson’s coaching staff has helped the team learn to trust each other.
“They’re big on accountability and putting your self-pride aside and doing what’s best for the team,” Fotu said.
Men’s Soccer
The men’s soccer team will face the University of California Riverside Aug. 29 at 9:30 p.m., following their loss to California State University, Bakersfield.
Women’s Soccer
The women’s soccer team is coming off a 3-2 win over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas last week, as they prepare to host Westminster University. The game is Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at Greater Zion Stadium. Last season they went 8-7-5 while going 3-2-4 in conference play.
Cross Country
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Orem to take place in the Utah Valley University Invitational Aug. 30. The women’s race will start at 10 a.m. with the men’s race to follow at 10:45 a.m. The men’s team took 5th place in the Western Athletic Conference Championship last season while the women’s team finished 7th.
Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball team will on head to Ogden to play in the Weber State University Wildcat Invitational. They will play both Denver University as well as Weber State University Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. The following day they will play Denver again at 12:30 p.m. The team is coming off a 9-17 season last year while going 5-11 in conference play.
