Ronald Wood Jensen, 82 passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in St George. He was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Holden to Harold and Grace Wood Jensen.
He is survived by his wife, Janeen Broderick; son Steven (Jolene); daughters Debbie (Stephen Bettinson), Julie (Doug Christian) and Valerie (Bruce Sloan); 30 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, brothers Alan (Christie) and Richard (Joann), and sisters Maureen McCoy and Virginia (Val Sorensen), sister-in-law Beth (Ralph) He is preceded in death by wife, Sharon Gayle; daugh¬ter Shirlena Joy; and sons Michael Ray, Thomas Dean and Donald William, brothers Evan (Viva), Ralph (Beth), Ross and brother-in-law John McCoy (Maureen) .
Ron always had a desire to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. From 1948 to 1950 he served in the LDS Centeral Atalantic States Mission. He held many church callings throughout his life, including Elders Quorum President, Sunday School Teacher, Home Teacher, and Ward Clerk.
He attended the temple where he spent many hours serving the Lord. In his later years he was able to attend the St George Temple often for his ancestors. His joy came from serving others. His life was dedicated to the Lord.
From 1951 through 1953 he served as a radar technician in the US Army guarding our nation which took him to many places including Fort Bliss – El Paso, Texas and Washington DC. He enjoyed guarding our nation’s capital.
His greatest happiness was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He has left a legacy of unconditional love.
A viewing will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St George. Interment will take place in the Delta Cemetery in Delta on Monday at 1 p.m.
