St. George, Utah – Leon Gene Nebeker, 79, husband of Norma Jean Nebeker, passed peacefully June 5th, 2011 at 12:40 pm. Leon was born August 29, 1931 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Enoch Harmer and Gwen Gardner Nebeker. He married Norma Jean Nebeker on January 6th, 1954, who passed away in 2004. Leon was raised in the LDS faith. He resided in Utah until he served his LDS mission in Montana. He married Norma Jean and raised their five children in California. Leon retired to Kayenta and St. George Utah. Leon was an extremely talented Tile Setter/Stone Mason, Contractor, and Business Owner, examples of his philanthropic work can be seen at Snow Canyon State Park and Xetava Gardens among other projects here in Utah and California throughout his life. Leon was also a Boy Scout Leader who hiked and traveled throughout the Western United States. He was as tinkerer, inventor, and gardener who loved Johnny Cash and John Wayne, and found inspiration in Ansel Adams and Norman Rockwell.

Leon is survived by five children; Vicky Mae Nebeker, Mark Leon Nebeker, Craig Steven Nebeker, Lisa Gwen Pilon, Christine Darlene Nebeker, fourteen grandchildren, and his sister Darlene Elva Smith.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Boy Scouts of America in his name. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 3815 West Rachel Drive, Santa Clara, Utah. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, Utah.
