St. George Police and SWAT were forced to close down roads Wednesday near Little Valley after receiving reports of a man firing a gun in his house.
The call came in around 2:30 p.m. when police received reports that an intoxicated man fired a weapon and then became fearful of being arrested. The family of the man was told to leave the residence when the person locked himself in his closet and made threats against his own life.
Police then closed off the roads from 2250 South at 1650 East up to 1750 East and offered the man negotiators and other means of ending the dispute, which he reportedly refused. Officials plan to monitor the area and wait for the alleged intoxication to wear off before furthering attempts.
