Local Medical Center Prefers Safe Over Sorry

The daily routines of Dixie Regional Medical Center employees are often not even considered routine. With different patients coming in every day with different sicknesses, pains, or injuries, the job description varies dramatically.

According to Dixie Regional Medical Center Communications Director Terri Draper, “It’s key for us to be prepared for anything that might come our way.”

This is why the facility held an emergency preparedness drill Tuesday, ensuring the staff knows exactly what to do during a natural disaster. Tuesday’s agenda featured a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.

“Last year we had a drill in the Health and Performance Center, one of the things tested was the overhead announcement system and it had problems that we were able to troubleshoot and fix,” Draper told SUN News.

The annual drill consists of a different disaster each time and is something that Draper says is “equally effective in helping our crew be as ready as they can be for any disaster.”
