“Occupy St. George” Begins

Members of the St. George Community converged on the gazebo at Vernon Worthen Park on Thursday night for the first general assembly meeting about “Occupy St. George.”

Despite the rain and cool temperatures, citizens both young and old met at the park to discuss the status of our nation. Inspired by the protest on Wall Street, event organizers Ingela Rundquist and Martin Shabazz organized a facebook group to make a St. George branch of the protest. Within two days of the group’s creation, they already had nearly 90 “likes” on facebook.

With groups forming in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, Shabazz said there was no reason St. George shouldn’t have its own group.
