Emery Spartans Upset Enterprise Wolves To Advance in 2A playoffs

Enterprise: In the first round of the 2A state playoffs the Emery County Spartans traveled to Enterprise to take on the Wolves. Emery hit the ground running before turning the ball over on downs giving the wolves a start at their own 30 yard line. With two passes down the field Enterprise’s Dustin Tullis was able to jog over the goal line to put the first points of the game on the board. A failed kick followed by a strong offensive drive from the Spartans led the score to be tied at the quarter break. The Enterprise defense held the Spartans scoreless in the second quarter while the Wolves offense led by Tullis was able to put another 6 on the board before the half ended. A failed two point conversion left the score Enterprise 12 Emery 6 at the break. 

The Spartans attacked during the second half, holding the wolves scoreless during the 3rdand while putting up a touchdown of their own.  Late in the fourth Emery’s Bailey Faimalo returned a 40 yard interception for a touchdown. After several penalties against the Spartans things started looking up for Enterprise to tie the game. A touchdown from Jade Hullet put Enterprise within two points with under two minuets remaining. A failed two point conversion sealed the win and playoff advancement for Emery. 

 

Emery will play against Manti on November 5th in the second round.
