Filmmakers from all over the world will be visiting Dixie State University and other locations throughout southern Utah this week to showcase their work.

In its fourth year since it began at DSU, The DOCUTAH Southern Utah International Documentary Film Festival has been praised as one of the nation’s best “Small-Town Documentary Film Festivals for 2012,” according to a DOCUTAH press release.

Having started Tuesday, more than 60 student and professionally made films will screen across campus until Saturday. Festivalgoers can also attend outdoor screenings and free filmmaker seminars where the filmmakers themselves will discuss their work and share filmmaking ideas.

Additionally, DOCUTAH will be presenting four $500 scholarship opportunities for DSU students who attend screenings and enter a drawing to win, according to a press release. Eligible students who are registered as full time and have a GPA of at least 2.0 can enter by obtaining a form from the Eccles Fine Arts box office by showing their student IDs. The entry form can then be submitted in a designated drop box after watching one of the films.

The showcased films are engaging, educational, entertaining and provide “an opportunity to envision the world through documentary film,” the press release stated.
