The Dixie State University volleyball team swept Black Hills State University 3-0 in its first match of the Crystal Inn Volleyball Invitational.
The first set saw the Trailblazers take the lead early and never relinquish it as DSU won 25-17.
The second set followed suit, as DSU opened up with a 7-0 lead. It continued to build momentum from there and convincingly won the second set 25-15.
The third set proved to be the closest one of the match. The set was tied 13-13 midway through, but after a back and forth battle DSU was able to hold on for a hard-fought 25-22 win — subsequently sweeping the Yellow Jackets of BHSU.
The defending Pacific West champion Trailblazers take on Northwest Nazarene University tonight at 7 p.m. in the Student Activity Center.
