After escaping by the skin of their teeth in previous games, Dixie State University secured a victory with an impressive defensive effort.

As the first five minutes of the first half came to a close, the Trailblazers had Thursday’s ballgame in San Francisco in the bag as they trounced the Academy of Art University by the final score of 73-48. DSU managed to hold the Urban Knights to 25 percent from the field on their home court.

With an impressive 42 points scored in the paint, the Trailblazers managed to shoot 50 percent from the field along with 86 percent from the free-throw line, an area they have sought to improve on. DSU’s bench also chipped in 29 points.

“The formula is working right now,” said forward Marcus Bradley, a senior business administration major from Anaheim, California. “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.”

The Trailblazers look to keep their four-game winning streak alive as they face Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, California, Jan. 7 at 3 p.m.
