Truman “Boyd” Barlow

Clearfield, Utah – Truman “Boyd” Barlow, 77, passed away June 24, 2011 in Clearfield, Utah. Boyd was born on February 18, 1934 in Enterprise, Utah to Ephraim and Roxie Ellen Truman Barlow. He married Delia Cowley on May 24, 1957 in the St. George LDS Temple. They were blessed with 8 children.

Boyd always lived a very active and involved life. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission. Upon completion of his mission, he was honored to serve in the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from 1956 to 1958. During his military service he married Delia and they had their first child. After leaving the military life the family settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they resided for 19 years. While in Las Vegas, Boyd enjoyed his employment as a manager at Vegas Village. In 1976 he and Delia moved their family to Enterprise, Utah, where Boyd lived for the remainder of his life.

Boyd was always actively involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His callings included Stake Executive Secretary, Young Men’s President, Bishopric Counselor, and various positions in scouting, along with many others. He also enjoyed volunteering to serve in the temple as the need arose.

Boyd will always be remembered for his love of visiting and serving. He spent many hours visiting his elderly friends and family, and supporting them through difficult times in their lives. He could always be found visiting his friends at the bank or pharmacy, and just driving or walking around town looking for someone to keep company. He had a very close bond with his sister and her husband, Edra and George Crawford, and was able to spend a great deal of time with them during their final years. This close relationship continued on through their daughter, Mary Ellen Wilson.

Boyd was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers Phil and Jay Barlow; his sister Edra; his daughter-in-law Robin Schmutz Barlow; and his grandson Michael Barlow. He is survived by Delia Barlow; his brother Ivin Barlow; his children: Greg (Carolyn) Barlow, LeAnn (Paul) Dannelly, Tony (Janet) Barlow, Danny (Michelle) Barlow, Kurt (Jill) Barlow, Derek (Nicole) Barlow, Stephanie Burch, and Nicole (Alex) Gubler; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 80 South Center, Enterprise, Utah. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Boulevard, St. George, Utah, and on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a..m. at the Enterprise LDS 1st Ward Chapel.
