Canyonlands National Park Receives a Special Honor

Utah’s Canyonlands National Park is receiving some hefty recognition from this month’s edition of Wired Magazine.

The 528 square mile park features breathtaking mesas, wildlife, and trails. But the magazine is looking at all those traits from a different view, space.

That’s right, the park went head-to-head with over one dozen other national parks, ranging from Yellowstone to Crater Lake and took the cake for having beauty ‘out of this world.’

Wired Magazine stated, “One of the most striking features in the image above is the circular structure in the northern part of the park known as Upheaval Dome. Scientists still aren’t sure how it formed. The two main theories are that it is the result of an asteroid impact or a rising layer of salt known as a salt dome.”

Do you think Canyonlands deserved the number one slot? If not, who do you think should have won? The full list of pictures can be found here.
