City Council Candidates Move On

Share This:

Ballots were cast, sorted and counted, and the results are in. Five St. George City Council members will be moving on to the general election, but a sixth spot remains undetermined due to a close vote count.

Three of the six incumbents topping the race are current City Council members Jon Pike (1,889 Votes) Gil Almquist (1,766) and Gloria Shakespeare (1,515), taking a sizable lead over challengers Ed Baca (1,200) and Jimmie Hughes (1,180). Baca and Hughes will be joining Pike, Almquis, and Shakespeare in the general. The sixth spot is still being determined as a slim eight-vote gap separated incumbents Tara Dunn (785) and Sam Laub (777).

Officials will be recounting the ballots Wednesday to confirm the sixth slot, which will most likely be announced today.
