There is only one phrase that truly captures how I feel about returning to n00b News for another semester.
“Chewie, we’re home.”
I don’t know about you, but winter break was the brief pause I needed before diving back into busy schedules and homework. Aside from getting some relaxation over the break, I’ve had the opportunity to see some incredible emerging technology at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, game profusely, and watch “The Force Awakens” more than I care to admit.
If I’ve learned one thing over the break, it is this: The future is bright for tech, gaming and fanboys (and girls).
The year 2016 is a big one for those interested in tech and gaming. Gamers can look forward to some highly-anticipated title releases, including “Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst,” “Uncharted 4,” and “No Man’s Sky.” The Oculus, which is making virtual reality in gaming possible, will be available for those who can afford the $600 price tag.
Aside from virtual reality, the tech world is making exciting developments in wearable, unmanned systems and digital-payment technology. Smartwatches are becoming an everyday accessory. Drones are being fine-tuned for video capture and human transportation. Apple Pay and it’s competitors are making it increasingly easier to spend your money. Considering all the progress these industries are making, I doubt we will run out of things to talk about.
n00b News is an opinion column but not just for me to get on a soapbox. I want to hear what you think. I look forward to reading all of your comments this semester. So much value is added to an idea when people of all walks of life with different opinions can come together through some civil discussion. The comments section under each article is the perfect place to share your thoughts.
I focused on some fun topics last semester, and I look forward to continuing the dialogue with you for the next few months. Is there a new video game you’d like a review on? What am I hoping to see in Season 6 of “Game of Thrones?” Reach me through Twitter to request a topic for the next installment of n00b News.
What is an emerging technology you are excited about? Let me know in the comments below.
